Beng Mealea, its name means “lotus pond”, one of the Hindu temples, built during Angkor Era, located 60km away from Siem Reap town (1 hour and half drive). The primary material is sandstone and it is largely unrestored, with trees, overgrowth and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great heaps. It offers great adventure tour by walking within the lush jungle into the temple galleries, its ruins, climbing over/down the rocks, suddenly you feel the authentic nature of the lost temple and it is the wonderful place for picturesque photography. On the way, you have chance to visit Bamboo sticky rice, is one of Cambodian traditional famous snack made from sticky rice mixed with black beans and grated coconut flesh and all is stuffed into the inside of the green bamboos and cooked over the fire as well as beautiful countryside views. Strong footwear, insect repellent, hat and long sleeves are recommended to bring along to the site.
